Soprano XL laser hair removal

I'm not sure whether Groupon, Fabfind and all those other group buys are a good or bad thing.  I've a stack of unused coupons now that were total steals...but I still have to get around to using them!

One of the things I decided to try was discounted laser hair removal.   I had it done before on my upper but it didn't work fully.  That time I started with IPL which made very little difference before moving onto a different laser.  That worked better but still not completely.  It wasn't very painful but it definitely did smart-especially just below the nose.

I had 5 vouchers for hair removal with Soprano XL at Bellair beauty bar in Toronto.  I booked through their central booking number and managed to get a 6pm appointment on Monday.  5 vouchers got me Brazilian bikini, upper lip and underarms.   I was fairly apprehensive!  The Soprano XL claims to be virtually pain free but I assumed that it was just a marketing ploy.  I was told to shave the night before or morning of the treatment.  I arrived a little early and filled out my forms.  I was a little annoyed that I had to talk about my bikini line in front of the whole waiting room but thankfully was taken in quickly.

The room was tiny.  Black couch with a fresh paper sheet.  No towels which made hitching up my skirt to display my bikini line feel very rough and ready.   The girl doing the treatment was nice though.  She smeared the area with gel and began.  It didn't hurt!  I was stunned.  It felt a little warm and felt a pinch a couple of times while she was doing my underarms but that was it.  The procedure was a bit different to the ones I've had before.  She moved the handpiece really quickly and lots of times in a sweeping motion instead of just doing it a few mm at a time.   The whole thing was over really quickly and I was still in shock at how painless it was by the time I left.

Will it work?  I don't know!  It almost seems too good to be true.  I contacted my Twitter friend @DrRaviJain afterwards when I saw that he uses the same machine.  He said it definitely works!  If it does it will be the best investment ever.  Imagine no more waxing?

  2. Wow! This is definitely a new experience for you. It's kind of giving you a nervous feeling but the great result will make you happy.

  3. @Anonymous I'm glad I bought the coupon. I'm a bit worried that it was so painless but it does seem to have had an effect-regrowth is definitely very patchy. It's probably too late for you now but if you haven't bought that Groupon I think I'd definitely buy any other one that comes up.

  4. ive done 6 sessions there and the hair in some areas is a bit thinner, and in others it is the exact same. I am fair skinned with dark hair and i also did bikini which is coarse hair, but no results. Extremely disappointed

    1. Same happened to me. It seemed thinner after the first two times, then after the third, it was growing back thicker. Talked to a technician at yelc and she has heard this a lot.

    2. I did the 6 altogether and would say I'm at same as the start in some patches around bikini but less than 50% in the majority. Debating going back for more...

  5. I'm still a bit ambivalent and unsure too. I have some results after 4 sessions but not hair free. I'm hoping that the 5th and 6th will change things. Hard to know. Sorry to hear that it didn't work for you. Even with the group buy vouchers it's still a significant amount of money :-(

  6. Groupons were a good idea, I wasn't able to find any that were suitable. So I opted to pay full price for full body laser hair removal. You can read about it on my blog: tryingtobehairfree.wordpress.com
